AMD Aims for Affordable GPUs, But Supply Chain Challenges Remain
AMD’s latest Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT GPUs have been in high demand since launch, leaving gamers scrambling to get their hands on these next-gen graphics cards. While availability has been somewhat better than Nvidia’s RTX 50-series GPUs, stock shortages and inflated prices remain a major concern.
However, Chinese graphics card manufacturer Yeston has assured customers that the supply situation is expected to stabilize after April 2025. In a recent statement, Yeston confirmed that restocks will occur weekly, encouraging gamers to stay patient.
AMD’s Take on GPU Availability and Pricing
Addressing concerns over MSRP pricing and stock shortages, AMD’s David McAfee emphasized that restocking is a top priority:
“We want to ensure that gamers can buy GPUs at expected market prices. We’re working closely with board partners and retailers to improve supply and pricing.”
While AMD remains committed to maintaining competitive prices, McAfee admitted that the company does not have direct control over final retail pricing. Unlike its CPU lineup, where AMD sells products directly, GPUs are distributed to board partners who design custom variants, adding their own pricing strategies.
RX 9070 and 9070 XT: A Sellout Success
Despite supply issues, AMD’s latest GPUs have been a massive commercial success, with the company calling the RDNA 4 launch a milestone event. Demand for these graphics cards has been exceptionally strong worldwide, further stressing the importance of a steady supply.
As of now, RX 9070 XT cards remain out of stock on major online retailers like Newegg, reflecting the continued scarcity. However, AMD is ramping up production, and many expect better availability by mid-year.
