FINAL FANTASY XIII is the first installment in the celebrated “Lightning Saga,” bringing the legendary RPG series into a high-definition era of sci-fi fantasy. Set in a dual world—the floating, utopia-like city of Cocoon and the savage, untamed wilderness of Gran Pulse below—a band of strangers is brought together by a curse.

Branded as “l’Cie,” enemies of the state destined to either fulfill a mysterious focus or turn into crystal, Lightning and her allies must flee the only home they’ve ever known. As the military forces of the Sanctum hunt them down, they must fight to save their world from destruction and change their fate.

FINAL FANTASY XIII features one of the most fast-paced and strategic combat systems in the series’ history.

• Paradigm Shift: You don’t just choose attacks; you choose roles. Instantly switch your party’s “Paradigm” in real-time to adapt to the flow of battle. Shift from an all-out offensive (Commando/Ravager) to a defensive wall (Sentinel/Medic) in the blink of an eye.

• Stagger System: Relentlessly attack enemies to build their Chain Gauge. Once full, the enemy breaks into a “Stagger” state, taking massive damage and becoming vulnerable to juggling attacks.

• Gestalt Mode: Summon powerful Eidolons—like Odin, Shiva, and Bahamut—that fight alongside you before transforming into rideable vehicles to unleash devastating finishing moves.
