Description
Far Cry 2: Welcome to the Real War
Prepare for a gaming experience that redefined the open-world shooter. Far Cry 2 plunges you into a fictional, war-torn African state, a beautiful but savage land gripped by a brutal civil war. You are a mercenary, sent on a single mission: to find and assassinate “The Jackal,” a ruthless arms dealer fueling the conflict.
But this world has other plans. Stricken with malaria and caught between two warring factions—the UFLL and the APR—you are forced to play both sides, navigating a world of betrayal and desperation where your only goal is to survive long enough to find your target.
A Brutal, Immersive Open World
This is a true sandbox of survival, set across a sprawling 50km² of African terrain, from vast savannas and jungles to desolate deserts.
- Unscripted Action: Every checkpoint and patrol is a potential firefight. The world is hostile and remembers you. There are no easy fast-travel points; you must drive, boat, or trek across the dangerous landscape.
- Buddy System: Forge alliances with other mercenaries. Your “buddies” can offer you alternative, more complex ways to complete missions and will even come to your rescue if you fall in battle—but their loyalty is never guaranteed.
The Elements Are Your Weapon (And Your Enemy)
Far Cry 2 features a revolutionary engine where the environment is a core part of the gameplay.
- Dynamic Fire Propagation: This is the game that perfected fire. Use a Molotov or flamethrower to set the dry grass ablaze and watch as the wind carries the flames, creating a tactical wall of fire that can engulf enemy outposts… or trap you.
- Weapon Degradation: Your guns are not invincible. Weapons jam, rust, and eventually break down from overuse and poor conditions. Scavenge for fresh weapons or buy new ones to ensure your firearm doesn’t fail you in a critical moment.
- Malaria: You are not a superhero. You are sick. At regular intervals, you will suffer from debilitating malaria attacks, blurring your vision and crippling your movement until you can take your vital medicine, which you must earn by helping the Underground.
A Gritty, Realistic Experience
Experience a grounded first-person perspective where immersion is key. Heal yourself in real-time by digging bullets out of your arm, navigate the world using a physical map and compass, and witness a world that is indifferent to your survival.
